HORIZONS

“Horizons” is a new line within my SEAmaps. These two-part paintings emphasize the vastness and infinity of the sea, with the sky reflected in the water. They talk about the projections we humans place into that vastness when we look at the horizon, and about the almost hypnotic state this gaze puts us in. In the first work, “Taktvoll”, the gap between the two parts of the painting is the horizon itself.

The foundation is once again gel printing, this time combined with a special photo transfer technique. In my SEAmaps, the details usually come as collage material from magazines, maps and other sources. Here, for the first time, they are exclusively my own photographs, which I transfer onto the paintings.

The images show people seen from behind, looking toward the horizon or into the distance. They stand in for the viewers, who can step up beside them and gaze into the vastness, ready to get lost.

These works are currently available in two sizes: 100 x 140cm and 50 x 60cm.
